Caiarossa IGT Toscana 2017

From its beginning in 1998, an effort was made to discover the potential of the Caiarossa vineyard through careful geological analysis. The results revealed an extremely varied soil. This diversity led to the definition of 12 vineyard lots, depending on the soil type, which were then planted with the most suitable grape varieties. The estate was organic from the outset (certified in 2003) and progressed to Demeter-certified biodynamic farming in 2005

Caiarossa 2017 has sharp pepper and spice overtones with full blasts of sage, toast, cinnamon, exotic fig and raspberry puree fruit. This wine always seems to maintain a great Italianate sensibility despite the international grape varieties, and that manifests itself here as olive tapenade, dried herbs and black cherry. Tuscan breeding continues on the palate with fine chalky tannins, a zip of refreshing acidity and a warm toasty undercurrent of oak
