Chateau Les Cruzelles Lalande-de-Pomerol 2009

Durantou's reputation as 'the man of the soil' couldn't be more of an understatement. He was first and foremost a vigneron – an increasingly rare breed in the polished world of Bordeaux. The 1998 vintage was pivotal – putting the property, and the talents of Denis Durantou, firmly on the map. While the wines earned high scores (and even higher prices), Denis remained grounded. He continued to run the show, staying just as involved in the day-to-day work; walking the vines and making the wine, getting dirt under his fingernails

Château Les Cruzelles

by Denis Durantou

About the 2009 vintage, Robert Parker wrote “a powerful, lavishly rich, almost extravagant style of wine … yet the purity, richness, and density are all there.” The nose is fleshed out with blackberry, wild hedgerow and a touch of dried blood. The palate is medium-bodied with very good weight and vigor, a solid core of fruit and silky tannins. There is a great persistence with a hint of Szechuan pepper on the aftertaste
