Located at the gates of Bordeaux, Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest wine-growing properties in the region, with a first harvest that took place in 1252. It owes its name to Pope Clement V, who managed the vineyard before giving it to the Archbishop of Bordeaux. In 1983, Bernard Magrez, a self-taught wine legend nicknamed the “man with 40 castles” purchased the property and by investing all of his energy and passion, elevated Château Pape Clément to the highest level of Bordeaux Grands Crus. The estate vineyard devoted to white wine represents 18 hectares located in the town of Pessac. Planted in a sheet of gravelly clay soils, the 24-year-old vines are producing complex, intense, refreshing, and fruity wines that run through a long, exotic aromatic finish

Château Pape Clément

by Bernard Magrez
A blend of 57% Sauvignon blanc, 39% Sémillon and 4% Muscadelle, the 2019 vintage slips languidly from the glass with attractive scents of white flower, honeysuckle, tangerine and yellow plum, plus hints of nutmeg, lanolin and crushed rocks. Full-bodied, rich and seductive, it is laden with tropical fruit and spice layers, with a racy line to support a long, opulent finish
