What’s so lovely about the 2014 vintage is that along with its lush fruit there are racy acids and the expression of terrior too. It’s rare to get such high levels of acidity with so much concentration and it’s not because of the crop size, but more a reflection of sunlight hours which were high without the heat. This allowed the grapes to ripen and the cool days and nights in August kept the high acids.
The 2014 should be seen as a vintage that is consumer friendly, with its upfront fruit and concentration and also one for purists where the vineyards intrinsic character is present too.
Very withdrawn nose that will have difficulty emerging. By insisting well, we will have aromas of tea.
The palate is much more spicy. We have a beautiful texture stretched by a touch of acidity. The whole is still quite compact, the wine has not been able to fully loosen despite a beautiful fruit in the mouth. Nice finish, intense but nevertheless short.
It is the only Premier Cru that the estate exploits on the North part of the appellation. This 46 ares parcel deploys at the bottom of the hillside on grassed soils, made of clay, limestone, and alluvium coming from Combe de la Serrée. This terroir produces wines that are known for their subtlety and delicacy.
