Château de Beaucastel makes some of the most famous wines in the whole of the Rhône Valley, from a classic southern Rhône blend that includes Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, as well as the lesser-known Counoise and Cinsaut varieties.
This Southern Rhone Red 2012 Blend contains a variety of grapes blended together and usually made up of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre in varying proportions with Grenach and Syrah being the dominant mix. The Rhone Valley is one of France's most important wine regions. Wines from the northern part of the valley tend to be Syrah-dominant, while wines from the southern Rhone are more commonly blends, with Grenache playing a more prominent role. Chateauneuf-du-Pape is the most famous example of a southern Rhone blend.
