Ornellaia Le Serre Nuove 2015 is a second wine of Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, under direction of the current owner Marchesi de' Frescobaldi. The Estate founded in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori, with the first vintage in 1985. From 2002 to 2005 the estate was co-owned by Robert Mondavi and Marchesi De Frescobaldi but, since 2005 Frescobaldi has owned it outright.
Harvesting is hand-picked and after destemming and subjected to soft pressing at the end producing a real “second vin”. A blend of Merlot 64%, Cabernet Sauvignon 17%, Cabernet Franc 10% and Petit Verdot 9%, which combines immediate pleasantness, approachability and a depth of flavour and complexity with a proven aging potential. You will feel the passion and attention to detail in your first tasting.

Winemaker Notes

Alex Heinz

Ornellaia

by Alex Heinz
“Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia 2015 perfectly represents its exceptional vintage, combining, as rarely happens, maturity, material and great pleasure in an ideally balanced way. The color is intense and young, to the nose it shows an intense and mature fruitiness, underlined by finely spiced and toasted notes. The mouth is round and silky, of great texture and harmony, with a succulent fruitiness that extends into a lively finish but without any edge, cooled by delicate balsamic notes. "
