Domaine du Vieux Donjon Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2013 is a brilliant example of a southern wine combining delicacy and elegance. The Michel family produces two cuvées, in only very small quantities. The secret to the success of Le Vieux Donjon is really no secret at all. They have tremendously old vines - many in excess of 80 years of age, and they are experts at picking only once the grapes have achieved optimum ripeness

Vieux Donjon

by Claire & François Michel
Blend of 75% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and 5% Cinsault, along with various other grape varieties added in small amounts. The result is a beautifully textured, medium to full-bodied wine, deeper ruby/purple in color, with traditional notes of ground pepper, Provençal garrigue, smoked meat, and red and black fruits. Terrific mid-palate, ripe, silky tannins, and a great, great finish. This is an outstanding vintage for this cuvée that’s going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for 20 years or more
