The Margheria Cru vineyard is located at about 340m above sea level, and comprises an area of only 1.5 hectares. Though it was purchased only in the 1970s, it has become one of the popular cru vineyards of the Massolino family today. The soil is calcareous with a good percentage of sand, adding elegance, mineral and spicy notes to the wine. Traditional vinification and ageing are the natural complement to the outstanding characteristics of the grapes

Winemaker Notes

Franco Massolino

by Franco Massolino
This Barolo is traditional in style yet fresh, structured and accessible. The grapes come from different subzones in Serralunga, resulting in a wine with a broad and variable spectrum of aromas, ranging from tempting spicy notes to sweet, more floral and fruity notes. Robust tannins and acidity are balanced by the fragrant fruit character of the Nebbiolo. An important wine that encapsulates all the history of our land and fully expresses its talents when served with rich dishes, such as roast red meats or game stew. It is also excellent with medium-mature and mature cheeses
