Château de Beaucastel wines are unanimously renowned for their balance, elegance and ageing potential. This is largely due to the estate extraordinary terroir at the Northern end of the appellation, with heavy exposure to the Mistral. All 13 varieties of the appellation have been organically grown there since 1950, and biodynamically since 1974. The 2001 vintage boasts a large percentage of Mourvèdre and Grenache - about 30% each, with 10% Syrah. The remainder is made up of small quantities of the ten other varietals permitted in Châteauneuf du Pape

Château de Beaucastel

by François Perrin
Beautiful red colour. Somewhat surprising nose of raspberry kirsch and spicy, pruny cooked fruit laced with chocolate, pepper and gamey notes. Medium to full bodied, the palate is quite peppery and spicy, with plenty of depth and layers in the glass. It has acidity and complexity without being overpowering

Sustainably Made
