Château Valandraud started life in 1991, as one of the original "garage" wines, which sparked a trend for thoroughly modern Bordeaux wine styles made in such tiny quantities that they could be - and sometimes were - made in a garage. The man behind the wine, Jean-Luc Thunevin, was called the “Bad Boy” of Saint-Émilion by Robert Parker for defying centuries of tradition and making a highly stylised wine: bold and rich with lavish new oak
Winemaker Notes

Château Valandraud
by Jean-Luc Thunevin
The 2020 vintage is a blend of Merlot (90%), Cabernet franc (7%), Cabernet sauvignon (3%). Richly textured, featuring cashmere-like waves of dark plum, cassis and blackberry compote flavors that glide through and are laced with light violet, anise and black tea notes. It hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a plush texture, awesome tannins, and finishes with lingering exotic spice sparks
